| Kanto was the reason why we fell in love with Pokemon. It intrigued us with an amazing
storyline and a slew of cute and powerful characters. We fell in love with Pikachu and Ash, and enjoyed their freindship and
skills. It was the greatest thing in the world. It spurred a card game, pillows, websites, pencils, pens, and organizers.
It was the biggest thing (and I know it sounds lame) since toasted bread. I can't say enough about how great this series was.
Fortunately, Cartoon Network® still airs this part of the show. Check your local listings for Pokemon®! My overall impression
of Kanto is 100% perfection! |
| Jhoto was a great place to see. I really loved the new Eevee evolutions, but some parts
of Jhoto were kind of stupid. A lot of the new Pokemon were kind of repetetive. Dunsparce, Togetic, Sudowoodo, Sunkern, Sunflore,
Aipom, Girafarig, and Gligar were all the dumbest Pokemon created at the time. It really didn't make much sense to have all
those new Pokemon around. At first, I totally hated the Jhoto Pokemon, but now I'm kind of into it. Some Pokemon like Steelix,
Corsola, Suicune, Entei, Raikou, Lugia, and Ho-oh were all well accepted, I think, by everyone. They are cute and still have
power...the classic Pokemon formula. Jhoto also added fifty new TMs and more than a slew of new attacks. It really made things
more difficult and unpredictable. For the first time, clocks were used in Pokemon. Now you could catch Pokemon at different
times of the day. It was an excellent idea that now sticks with us until the end of the series. Anyway, my overall opinion
about Jhoto was it was almost as great as Kanto. |
| Hoenn isn't nearly as good as Jhoto. They really accepted anything when it came to artwork,
and their naming system must have been matching random prefixes, words, and suffixes by where the darts landed on the dart
board. It may sound kind of harsh, but so is the game. I haven't played it yet, but its supposed to be much harder than Pokemon
Crystal/Gold/Silver. Now I don't want to come off as a critic, but I'm just stating my opinions about this zany new series.
I do, however, love the new rare Pokemon: Latias and Latios! They are excellent and are the stars of Pokemon: Heroes, the
(at the time I wrote this) most recent Pokemon movie. Anyway, for now I give this series a very low grade, but give kudos
to the marvelous new concepts and the few decent Pokemon in Hoenn. |
